I won $16.30 last night in 521 hands playing 2 tables of 50nl and 2 tables of 100nl. I decided to try to satellite into the FTOPS event for Wednesday evening ($216 buyin) so I tried to win a couple of $26 tokens in ($8.80) sit-n-go's. I lost both, and didn't try any further. (-$17.60)
I did collect my Rakeback from last month for $127.65 this morning, and collected another $7.50 of my February bonus so my bankroll has grown to...$5300.00 I will probably try to satellite into a few other FTOPS events that run over the next 2 weeks on Fulltilt. I'm an ok tournament player...probably better live than online, mainly because most live events I have played, the players have always been very loose, passive. Two ingredients for being a long-term losing player.
The online players today are very much the opposite. Most all play a very solid game but exploit situations where poor players put themselves, and others in bad situations. They love to steal dead money from the pot...For example:
FullTiltPoker Game #5111491715: The Sunday Brawl (37698185), Table 34 - 4000/8000 Ante 1000 - No Limit Hold'em - 20:08:28 ET - 2008/02/03

Bull1967 folds
Beaver Fever folds
PMJackson21 folds
TRUBLOND folds
GBecks raises to 20,500 ...normal preflop raise...
MacGambler1 calls 20,500 ...Flat call...dead money...hand probably not that good if he can only call.
thebirdman84 has 15 seconds left to act
thebirdman84 raises to 163,220, and is all in ...birdman shoves with a hand as low as (89s)thinking all he has to is get GBecks to fold... If he gets looked up by AK or AQ he is only a 60/40 underdog. Against the range of A8+ KJ+ and any PP he still is only a (62/38) underdog...meaning if he attempt to steal this pot...it only needs to work about half of the time to be a (+EV) play. Probably the most important part of the play is leaving the original raiser room to fold his hand (Fold Equity). If birdman shoves 65,000 on top, now Gbeck only has to call 44,500 to win 127,000 (2.85/1) 25% chance to win...which is an automatic call. If this was the line, GBeck would most likely shove himself to keep MacGambler out of the pot.
Cmoney3 folds
GBecks folds
MacGambler1 folds
Uncalled bet of 142,720 returned to thebirdman84
thebirdman84 mucks
thebirdman84 wins the pot (77,500)
The blinds are now 5,000/10,000 with an ante of 1,000

The timing of these plays are what make good players great. Most live players do not take the thought processes to this level...I have taken this line of play some, but my timing has been off, and it can make you look foolish when it doesn't work. Then you lose confidence, and stick to just playing your cards. But volume is where you see the long-term results in these plays.
