Fancy play syndrome...

I watched a few training videos on Cardrunners earlier this month showing the transition from small stakes to mid stakes games. The instructor was WCGRider who is a successful young player.

He mulitabled (4 tables) at three different levels, 100nl, 200nl, 400nl. He talked alot about pre-flop play and how to use 3-bets, 4-bets and even 5-bets to increase action. I caught myself in this Fancy Play and found myself stuck about $900 in a short period of time.

In the last couple of years I have accumulated quite a few points on FullTilt which I have used to buy Fulltilt clothing such as T-shirts and sweatshirts. But I decided to use 5,000 points this month for a Stoxpoker training site membership for 1 month. I have tightened my game up some, but also try to exploit some situations by squeezing LAGs who "punish the limper" with a late position raise. I have called more in position and fold/raise my blinds more frequently. I am getting better at reading boards and assigning hand ranges so that I can more confidently barrell mutiple streets.

I really like the play of Dusty "Leatherass9" Schmidt and Hunter "beachjustice" Bick. They seem to do a great job of assigning hand ranges and explain well their thought processes in making these assignments.

I have recouped my losses and have moved back to a Fulltilt bankroll of $8874.75. I have mixed in some tournament play over the last month with very little success, but only due to awful beats...If I keep making the same plays and put myself in the same situations I will make a good score soon.

ANother note to add is that UB and Absolute have closed their sites to those that live in Kentucky until the legal action being pushed by Governor Beshear. I am cashing out everything from both sites and will hopefully use this to increase my live game bankroll. I should receive almost $2800 between the two sites.
